The official Japanese Pokémon Web site has announced an upcoming campaign involving the Game Boy Advance Pokémon RPG games. Beginning Nov. 26, the Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Yokohama and Sapporo Pokémon Center stores will commence a promotion of distributing Treecko, Torchic and Mudkip.

The purpose behind the campaign is to assist players who do not have access to all five versions of the GBA Pokémon RPG series, Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, FireRed, LeafGreen and Emerald. As such, the Pokémon to be distributed are those only available in the games out of multiple choice or through version-exclusive means. When the first promotion ends on Dec. 11, it will most likely be replaced by another promotion giving out Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle.
The recently released Pokémon XD is, too, partly focused on supplementing the GBA games with version-exclusive and otherwise hard-to-get Pokémon. However, the only game to have all its missing Pokémon covered through this method is Emerald. Furthermore, neither the Hoenn|Hoenn nor the Kanto starters are included in this.

In order to receive the Pokémon, players must attend one of the Pokémon Center stores with their Game Boy Advance (or SP) and one or more cartridges. It is necessary to have obtained the Pokédex from Prof. Birch (in Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald) or Prof. Oak (in FireRed and LeafGreen). Also required is saving at an in-game Pokémon Center after clearing at least one room in the party; only one Pokémon is downloaded at a time. It should be noted that since the download is performed directly, unlike normal trading and wireless communication downloads, the game will not check whether the National Dex has been obtained.
